- These tools provide chip control in 6061 T6 Aluminum at feeds up to .050 per revolution and depths of cut up to .300 per side on 20hp CNC lathes. Machine horsepower, fixturing and part rigidity are all limiting factors. Shear Geometry® tools create very little residual stresses. Reduce D.O.C. and/or feed rate with lower horsepower machines or less rigid conditions!
- CAUTION! Use a Peck Cycle for safe chip control in copper and soft aluminum alloys. Program to feed in .015 and retract .010 per peck for oxygen-free copper. Start at .050 depth of cut and .025 feed per revolution. Increase until maximum performance is reached. Lower horse power lathes may require a peck cycle for all materials. Run aluminum at maximum speeds and copper at 1000 S.F.M.
- These tools are not for use on manual lathes! They produce large, high velocity chips at maximum metal removal rates on CNC lathes. The work piece must be held safely with adequate chuck pressure and jaw contact to resist the forces generated at high feeds and depths of cut. Use common sense when machining at the ultra high metal removal rates that these tools are capable of producing!
